. Primero de todo .. ¿como ha sido el rodaje en Almería? Habeis tenido algun problema, facilidades? ¿Es facil para un corto venir a Almería para rodar?
"El rodaje en Almeria fue duro. Primero de todo, habia una barrera en el idioma. Afortunadamente, teniamos algunas personas que hablaban español y fueron quienes nos ayudaron a coordinar el rodaje (nuestro Production Manager, Lluis Fe Perez es de Barcelona). Ya que las mentalidades españolas y suizas son diferente, tuvimos que adaptarnos a una nueva forma de trabajar. Es sencillo rodar en Almería, pero necesitas una cierta cantidad de dinero para alquilar el estudio".
"The shoot in Almeria was tough! First of all, there was the language barrier. Fortunately, we had some people who talked Spanish and who helped us coordinate the shoot (our Production Manager, Lluis Fe Perez is from Barcelona). Since the Spanish and Swiss mentalities are unlike, we had to adapt to a new way of working. It’s simple enough to shoot in Almeria, but you need a certain amount of money to rent the studio."
. He leido algo sobre la dificultad de conseguir todo el presupuesto para el rodaje, al final ¿cuanto ha costado el cortometraje?
"Hasta el momento, no tenemos cerrado al 100% nuestro presupuesto. ahora mismo tenemos justo suficiente para terminar la película, pero no tenemos dinero para la postproduccion. Tenemos que preparar archivos al objeto de ser financiados para las postproduccion. El presupuesto para este corto está sobre 68.000 euros. La Federal Cultural Office no ha apoyado nuestra película, entonces tenemos que buscar otras formas de financiarlas. Afortunadamente, el estado de Neuchatel, la Loterie Romande y los Fonds Regio (administraciones culturales oficiales) nos han ayudado. Tambien tenemos una gran cantidad de sponsors privados en esta película (amigos, familia, sponsors)."
"So far, we haven’t 100% closed the budget. At this point, we have just enough to finish the movie, but have no money for postproduction. So we will have to prepare files in order to get financing for the postprod. The budget for this short is about EUR 68’000. The Federal Cultural Office didn’t support our movie and we had to find other ways to finance it. Fortunately, the state of Neuchatel, the Loterie Romande and the Fonds Regio (official cultural administrations) helped us. We also have a big amount of private sponsoring in this movie (friends, family, sponsors)."
. ¿Como ha sido la eleccion de Ken Foree para el papel?
"Ken Foree es un buen amigo mio y cuando le conocimos en el Festival de Sitges el último año, le envie el proyecto y dijo que le encantaría formar parte de el. Ken es una persona muy simpatica y muy accesible."
"Ken Foree is a good friend of mine and when we met at the Sitges Film Fest last year, I submitted the project to him and he said he would love to play a part in it. Ken is a very likeable person and very approachable."
. Segun he leido, el corto tiene un buen componente de terror. ¿que podemos encontrar, zombies, gore... ?
"El corto es un western mezclado con horror, Es sobre un caza recompensas que busca a su presa en un pequeño pueblo, encontrandolo, un poco tarde, donde los habitantes son canibales. Es gore!"
"The short is a western film mixed with horror: it’s about a bounty hunter who searches for his prey in a small village, finding out, a little late, that the locals are cannibals. It’s gory!"
. ¿Os gustan las películas western? ¿Conociais las peliculas del oeste de Sergio Leone en Almería?
"Si, Olivier Beguin el director, y a mi nos gustan los westerns. Por supuesto conocemos las pelicula western de leone en Almeria. Eso le añade magia."
"Yes, Olivier Beguin (the director) and I love westerns ! Of course we knew Leone shot his western in Almeria. That added to the magic."
. ¿Crees que el género Western está en la hora de resurgir?. Hay varias películas ultimamente y mas que vendran.
"Si, creo que el western está resurginedo. "El asesinato de jesse james .." y "3:10 to Yuma" son una prueba de que el western todavia tiene un gran potencial."
"Yes, I believe Western is coming back. “The Assassination of Jesse James…” and “3:10 to Yuma” show that Western still has a great potential".
. ¿El cortometraje está basado en el lejano oeste o en tiempos actuales?
"El corto está basado en el viejo y lejano oeste."
"The short is based in the Old Far West."
. Sabemos que Olivier el anterior trabajo "Naufragues" era de terror con zombies, asi como los dos primeros. ¿Es un director de terror?
"A Oliver le encantan las peliculas de terror. Nosotros crecimos mas o menos viendo las mismas películas y es un género que le gusta explorar porque lo conoce bien. Pero le gusta todo tipo de cine."
"Olivier loves horror movies. We kind of all grew up watching the same movies and it is a genre he likes to explore because he knows it well. But he loves every type of cinema."
. ¿Lo de PELICULAS BRAVAS elegido para dar nombre a vuestra productora, tiene alguna relación con España?
"El nombre de "peliculas bravas" tiene una divertida historia. Estabamos buscando un nombre para la union de nuestras compañias de produccion y nadie pudo venir con un nombre decente. No queriamos tener un nombre en inglés o francés porque todo el mundo lo tiene. Olivier estaba en Madrid, visitando a Adan, nuestra co-productor español, y estaban comiendo Patatas bravas y otras tapas. De pronto Olivier dijo: Peliculas Bravas!. Me enviaron el nombre y dije si inmediatamente, porque es original y significa "Duras y fuertes peliculas"
"The name “Peliculas Bravas” has a funny story. We were looking for a name for our joint production company and no one could come up with a decent name. We didn’t want to have a French or English name, because everyone had that. And Olivier was in Madrid, visiting Adan, our Spanish producer partner, and they were having Patatas Bravas and some other tapas. Suddenly Olivier said: Peliculas Bravas! They submitted the name to me and I said yes immediately, because it’s original and means strong and tough pictures"
. ¿Pensais presentaros de nuevo en Sitges con este corto?
"Si, vamos a enviar el corto a Sitges, en la competicion de cortos europea. He estado viajando a Sitges desde hace cuatro años, y voy cada año. Espero que Sitges acepte nuestra película, porque sera muy gratificante recibir a un corto suizo, rodado en España y con un elenco internacional."
"Yes, we are going to submit the short to Sitges, in the European Short Film competition. I have been travelling to Sitges for four years now and I go every year. I hope Sitges will accept our movie, because it would be very gratifying to be received with a swiss short, shot in Spain and with an international cast."
. El corto es una muy buena forma de comenzar una carrera, pero deseais de alguna forma pasaros al largometraje?
"Estamos pensando en usar la historia de fondo de este corto para un largometraje. No tenemos aun el guion, pero Olivier tiene el concepto en su cabeza"
"We are thinking of using the background story of this short film for a feature film. We have not yet a script for the feature but Olivier has the concept in his head."
. Por ultimo añade lo que quieras.
"Quisiera añadir que esta película no podría haberse hecho sin la ayuda de todos los técnicos que aceptaron trabajar gratis para el film. Todo el mundo trabajar duro para hacerla. Tenemos a un Steadycam español (Nacho Seoane y su asistente Juan) vinieron gratis desde Madrid, usando su propio equipo. Sin todos ellos, no se donde estaríamos con este corto."
"I’d like to add that this movie could not have been done without the help of all the technicians who agreed to work for free on the film. Everyone worked really hard to get it done. We even had a Spanish Steadycam (Nacho Seoane and his assistant Juan) come down for free from Madrid, using his own equipment. Without all of them, we wouldn’t be where we are now with this short."
